creating communities to be proud of

Equality Impact Assessments ensure that an organisation's policies and services do not discriminate against people including those in minority groups. They help us to think about the needs of these groups and how our services impact on them. They are also a good way to help us identify ways that we can promote equality and improve our services.
Equality Impact Assessments are completed by a small team who look at a policy, strategy or service that is being reviewed to see how it affects our customers in respect of their disability, age, gender, race, religion/belief, sexual orientation or gender identity to ensure equal and fair access for all.
At Shoreline, we will also consider community cohesion and any other socially excluded groups issues when completing the assessments.
If an Equality Impact Assessment shows that a policy, strategy or service has an adverse impact on any particular group, we will consider alternative ways of doing things to ensure that they are able to receive the same quality of service as everybody else.
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we regularly review our policies, strategies and services. We will publish the results of these on our website, intranet and in our tenants’ newsletter, they will also be reported to the Equality and Diversity Group on a quarterly basis and annually to the Board.
We have both a legal and regulatory obligation to carry out Equality Impact Assessments. We also have our own aspirations and a commitment to provide a fair and accessible service to all our customers, as set out in our Single Equality Scheme and Equality and Diversity Policy
