creating communities to be proud of

As people get older, most want to carry on living independently. To do this you need the right kind of housing and support to help you:

We provide:
You may have recently heard about matters regarding the funding that we receive on your behalf from North East Lincolnshire Council‘s “Supporting People” scheme which supports our cost of providing housing support to many residents.
We have put together a Supporting People guide to help answer any of your questions or concerns but if you would like to talk to us further please feel free to contact us directly or talk to your support officer.
We will certainly be pleased to hear any views or ideas that you may have.

One and two bedroom bungalows. Some are grouped around sheltered accommodation. Others are situated in local neighbourhoods throughout North East Lincolnshire.
Please note that you must be 60 or over to be considered for a bungalow.
One and two bedroom flats. Some are grouped together.
Flats or studio apartments in an enclosed complex, some with communal facilities such as lounge or laundry.
For grouped flats or some sheltered accommodation you must be 60* or over and in others, you must be 55* or over. We will give you detailed information about the accommodation you can consider with your
application.
We want to make sure that we keep older person’s accommodation for rent so it is not eligible for ‘Right to Buy’ or ‘Right to Acquire’.
* If you are slightly below the age criteria, exceptions will be considered such as a disability or support need. However, as an exception you must have a specific need and must comply with the expectations of an older person’s environment.
Our schemes are shown on this area map. Simply click on a house to find out more information.

We provide older person’s support teams to help you to live independently.
When you move in, a trained support officer will visit to assess your needs. They will talk to you about matters such as your health, safety and your interests. They will also offer to arrange advice on finance such as whether you are getting the benefits you are entitled to.
They will then do a support plan. This sets out how your needs will be met, whether by the support officer by another agency or health professional or by your own relatives or friends.
After this, your support needs will be reviewed every year. Your needs will also be reviewed if there is a change in your life, for example:
You can ask for a review of your support needs at any time. It is far better to spot a change early and prevent future problems.
Please remember that support is not the same as care. We do not provide personal care, meals or domestic assistance. We assist you to find the right kind of help to meet your individual needs so that you can continue to be independent and active.

Community alarms are monitored by a call centre who have details of everyone with an alarm. If you trigger an alarm, they will ring you back to find out if you are alright. If there isn’t a reply, they will call a nominated contact such as a relative. In some cases, they would immediately call the emergency services.
Community alarms provide reassurance and peace of mind because you know there is always someone at the other end of the line.
In sheltered accommodation residents hold activities for a range of interests. Some examples include:
Older people find these activities help them:
These activities are mainly for sheltered residents but in some schemes other older people in the community are encouraged to take part.
If you would like to have an informal chat, a full list of accommodation or arrange to visit sheltered accommodation to see what it is like, please visit any of our public offices, telephone 0845 849 2000 option 2 or email info@shorelinehp.com.
If you would like to be considered for our homes for older people you must complete an application form to join the housing register, the following section explains how the register system works.
You may already be aware of Home Choice Lincs - a new, fairer and faster way of finding a home for rent in Northern Lincolnshire which will be introduced in October 2010.
It is part of a national initiative called Choice Based Lettings that brings local councils and housing associations together to jointly advertise homes available for rent.
The local partnership is made up of North Lincolnshire Council, North East Lincolnshire Council, North Lincolnshire Homes Ltd, Shoreline Housing Partnership Ltd and Longhurst and Havelok Homes, who are all working together to introduce the scheme.
The partnership is responsible for more than 20,000 homes across Northern Lincolnshire, but until now people wanting to rent a home have had to register separately and join a waiting list for each of the housing associations.
The Home Choice Lincs scheme will mean that people only have to register once. It also gives people more choice and information about homes that may be available to them throughout the whole of Northern Lincolnshire offering them better opportunities to find a home that’s right for them.
In preparation for the new scheme, Shoreline Housing Partnership will be closely managing housing applications received from 8th July 2010 until the go-live date of the new scheme.
We will continue to register new applications from people who are in the highest housing need so that we can carry on housing people before the new scheme goes live. For people who are in less urgent need we will keep their details and invite them to apply once the new scheme is up and running. This will prevent the duplication of applications on the systems and will save time for those in less housing need.
If you consider yourself to be in a high need for housing please contact us on 0845 849 2000 option 2 or by email at csc@shorelinehp.com
We will then assess your likelihood of being housed by us before the new scheme goes live and will provide you with relevant advice and information about what will happen next.
Will I be considered for sheltered accommodation if my partner is younger than me?
Yes, as long as your partner understands that it is older persons' accommodation and accepts the conditions that apply. We will assess each situation to make sure that a younger partner will not disrupt an older person's community.
What happens if I have a younger dependant?
We will assess your need and any risks. In many cases dependants support older people so they must agree to accept the conditions that apply. We will assess each situation to make sure that a younger dependant will not disrupt an older person’s community.
Can I keep my pet dog or cat?
Yes you can. We understand that your pet is a valued and loved companion. You will be responsible for clearing up any mess and making sure that your pet does not disturb other residents.
If my family want to visit - where will they stay?
In many sheltered schemes we have guest bedrooms that relatives can stay in at a low cost.
I don't need support now but I may in the next few years. Can I move into sheltered accommodation now?
Yes, we encourage you to plan ahead so that you avoid difficulties and can enjoy your independence as you get older.
What about my mobility scooter? Is there somewhere to store and charge it?
You will need to consider this before you accept an offer as storage space can be limited and is only available in some accommodation. You will be charged a small fee to charge your scooter. We suggest that before you purchase a scooter you think about where you will keep it and what size and type will be suitable.
I need a level access shower as I cannot get in the bath any more. Is this possible?
Yes. Before you move in we will assess all of your needs and where possible we will arrange suitable minor adaptations to your property. For more significant adaptations we will refer you for an Occupational Therapy assessment to find out what help you may get.
