Donate don’t Dump

Donate Don’t Dump was the message from Shoreline employees when we held our annual collection drive for unwanted possessions.

Donate dont dump day 2017

The New Year clear out saw employees bring in to work good quality toys, books, clothes and household goods which were sold in aid of the Shoreline Charity of the Year – North East Lincolnshire Down’s Syndrome Family Support Group.

Items not sold were donated to former Charity of the Year Women’s Aid to be sold in their new Grimsby store at Hainton Square.

Shoreline’s Ann Maggs MBE – chair of the Shoreline fundraising group – said: “It’s really convenient for our employees to bring their unwanted items into work – they’re less tempted to throw them away and don’t have to make a special trip to the charity shop.

“Plus one person’s trash is another person’s treasure and we’ve had employees donating items but then buying lots of other things.

“So it stops a lot of waste, boosts the funds for our current charity of the year and helps to stock Women’s Aid’s brand new shop.”

Our employee fundraising has benefitted a whole host of local charities including St Andrew’s Children’s Hospice, Humberston Hydrotherapy Pool, Babycare – the neonatal unit of the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital and CatZero.

North East Lincolnshire Down’s Syndrome Family Support Group has been officially announced as Shoreline Charity of the Year 2017. They are a voluntary parent led charity for families living in the Grimsby, Cleethorpes and wider North East Lincolnshire area of the UK.
