creating communities to be proud of

We’re keen to help you save money on your electricity bills. That’s why we are currently looking into the possibility of putting solar panels on a limited number of suitable homes. We are still finalising the details of this programme and it is at this stage still subject to final approval by our Board.
Solar panels use sunlight to make electricity. If you live in a suitable property you could have solar panels fitted to your roof and use the free electricity the panels generate to reduce your electricity bills.
Solar panels only work really well when certain things are in place:
From an initial assessment we believe that a maximum of 25% of our homes may be suitable for solar panelling. We have already written to those households. If you have not already received a letter, this means that your property has already been assessed as not suitable because your home does not face the right direction, the angle of your roof is not right, or there is some other technical reason.
We are proposing to enter into a partnership with another company who will pay for the installation and maintenance of the panels and who in return will take most of the income from the electricity that is generated – this does not affect you in any way as the electricity the panel generates will always be free to the householder.
We will get a small share of this payment for renting them our roofs and any money left over can be used to pay for energy efficiency projects, to help make our area green for the future.
