creating communities to be proud of

gardens in bloom

Tenant devotion, green-fingered schoolchildren and the dedication of support officers has transformed the gardens of Shoreline's sheltered schemes while scooping two firsts and a second in North East Lincolnshire's In Bloom competition.

Every corner of the peaceful garden at the Elms sheltered scheme in Humberston is a vision of floral delight from scented tubs of lavender to rose beds bursting with colour, bedding plants of every shade to climbing vines up old washing lines.

And it’s all thanks to the hard work and dedication of resident Mick Thompson whose free time spent potting plants, tending to shrubs and creating the garden haven has been recognised with a first place prize.

While Nunsthorpe’s Matt Quinn House has won the sheltered section of the competition for the second successive year.

Over on the Willows, green-fingered schoolchildren joined residents of Stratford House for a morning of planting and creating hanging baskets, floral displays and colourful window boxes and netted second place in the window boxes and hanging basket section.

The project brought an extra helping of community spirit as well as colour to the neighbourhood, much to the delight of the residents who celebrated the victory with a garden party.

Cream tea, fresh strawberries and lovely sunshine made for a fun afternoon as tenants were joined by our chief executive Tony Bramley.

Big plans are already in place for next years’ competition with Mick planning to create a solar panelled water feature in the centre of the garden and Matt Quinn residents using their new garden shed facilities to help maintain the current high standard of their garden.

Blooming marvellous everyone!
