Green and safe
Over two million pounds of security and environmental investment is combating anti-social behaviour and improving the appearance of Grimsby’s East Marsh multi-storey blocks.
The improvements form part of our wider commitment to the transformation of the East Marsh which is completely regenerating the physical environment of the multi-storeys and the appearance of the area through the:
- Modernisation of multi-storey entrances and external painting of blocks
- Creation of recycling and compost areas
- Creation of communal community gardens and landscaping of space within the perimeter fence
- Partnership with the local Strand Junior School to utilise green spaces and create student study areas
- Removal of litter, fly-tipping and graffiti.
The major regeneration project has been developed with East Marsh residents after they raised concerns about unsecured rights of way, the degenerated physical environment, security, crime, the fear of crime, anti-social behaviour and drug-dealing.
We’ve also created a team of neighbourhood caretakers to provide longer hours of service, seven days a week with an increased CCTV monitoring team 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
