Our football-mad employees lined up for a prestigious charity football match on the hallowed turf of Blundell Park on Friday, raising over fifteen hundred pound for local charities Bottoms Up and Friendship at Home.

The enthusiastic Shoreline employees took on a team from BT Local Business (South Yorkshire and Humber) in a first-of-its kind charity evening match ever to be held at the home of Grimsby Town FC.

The one all draw was watched by enthusiastic supporters including friends, family and colleagues from both organisations.

Post match entertainment included a sports auction where signed shirts from Sheffield United, Frank Lampard and England legend Gordon Banks went to the highest bidders.

“This event really captured the imagination of our employees. The team enjoyed playing on the pitch – which was a once in a lifetime opportunity for them and everyone had a fun and relaxing night. More importantly we raised as much money as possible for these two fantastic causes which make a real difference to the lives of local people.”

Shoreline player manager Steve Neul

In preparation for the big game, the team were put through their paces in a special training session by ex-Grimsby Town legends and UEFA B coaches Gary Childs and John McDermott - fresh from being honoured with the PFA Special Merit Award.

Both charities were chosen by employees as the Shoreline chair’s charities of the year.

Employees have already arranged a series of fundraising events over the last few months including fish and chip suppers, a casino night, festive humbugs and cakes, a trip to Skegness, a book exchange and the Black and Gold Ball at the Masonic Hall.
