creating communities to be proud of

Shoreline, Havelok Homes and residents of the Grange estate came together for their first free community fun day in celebration of European Neighbours’ Day.
We came together to build community relations by arranging a celebration for European Neighbours’ Day on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 (one day after the official date).
Young people and their families enjoyed a jam packed day of activities including;
and met with organisations and local groups including;
Shoreline tenant and resident support officer Claire Tunstall adds: “The day brought the whole community together –all those people who see each other but don’t necessarily know one another.
“It’s was a fun day which allowed us to celebrate all the different people that make up our communities whether in our own neighbourhoods, our town or Europe.
“We work so closely with residents and we know that by working together and getting to know each other better, we can help one another, share ideas and experiences, develop support networks and create real communities that people are proud to be a part of. “
We also used the event to continue recruiting North East Lincolnshire residents for ‘Community Voice’ – a successful sounding board where over 1000 members have already got involved in giving their opinions, ideas and suggestions on the neighbourhoods in which they live and the services we provide.
European Neighbours’ Day is in its sixth year and is celebrated by more than 7 million people in 28 countries across Europe. The annual event was created in Paris in 1999 and launched in the rest of Europe in 2004.
