housing showpiece gets go ahead

North East Lincolnshire Council has given the go-ahead to plans by Shoreline and partners Stamford Homes for the multi-million pound, 400-home housing showpiece that will transform the Yarborough estate.

The ambitious scheme – running into tens of millions of pounds - will completely regenerate and transform the 296-home estate to provide 440 modern new properties for the next generation of residents.

The plan, which incorporates a range of ideas and views from residents, was approved by Councillors at today’s meeting.

It is now possible that building work could start as early as next spring.

Over the next eight years we will work with Stamford Homes and architects Barton Willmore, to transform the Yarborough into a multi-million-pound high quality sustainable urban environment that will include more than 400 new homes and associated open space, a health centre, play area and traffic calming measures.

All homes on the new development will be built to Eco Homes Standard with a range of environmentally friendly features designed to save energy, cut fuel bills and reduce pollution.

Shoreline chief executive Tony Bramley said: “We are extremely pleased that the plans have been given the go ahead. It is a landmark day for the local community and all the residents who have been actively involved in the redevelopment from the very beginning.

“The transformation of the neighbourhood will create new homes, breathe new life into the area and create a sustainable and cohesive community.”

Residents will be given the opportunity to discuss what the go ahead means to them and catch up on the latest development news at a specially arranged event at the Yarborough Resource Centre between 12 noon and 6pm on January 28, 2008.
