The Housing Corporation is a government agency that regulates housing associations using a traffic light assessment system – with red indicating serious concerns, amber signifying some concerns and a green light indicating that the association meets regulatory code and is being run in a satisfactory manner.

Shoreline was assessed by the Corporation under the headings of Financially Viable, Properly Managed and Properly Governed and were given green lights in all three areas – an improvement on last year’s two greens and an amber.

Last year’s ‘Amber’ light indicated concerns about performance in the area of Governance and stated that the strategic skills and understanding of the Board needed to be strengthened.

Many steps have been taken to improve the financial and commercial acumen of the Board through a training programme and the co-opting of new members with excellent business backgrounds to ensure the Board has access to a broad range of skills, knowledge and experience.

Shoreline chief executive Tony Bramley said; “We are really pleased with our performance – we believe that it is a refection of the hard work and commitment we have put in to improve on last years result. To receive three green lights in the main areas of our business is very encouraging.

“It shows that as a housing association we are heading in the right direction and making really good progress. My personal thanks go to everyone in getting us this far.

“There are still areas in which we need to improve and develop and we will continue striving to constantly improve our services to make sure that we meet the needs of our tenants and the wider community.”

The report was presented to the Shoreline Board who were very pleased and grateful to the efforts of all employees.
