creating communities to be proud of

bringing the community together at multi-cultural event

Shoreline joined organisations and residents from across North East Lincolnshire to help bring communities together at the International Food and Market Event on Saturday September 15, 2007.

The multi-cultural event organised by North East Lincolnshire Communities Together was designed to promote awareness of different cultures and build community relations.

Visitors had the opportunity to sample foods from around the world and experience entertainment and music from different cultures.

Shoreline hosted a ‘food from the shoreline’ themed stall where visitors were able to taste a variety of traditional seaside treats, try their luck in a Steels fish and chip prize draw while young people took part in face painting and a host of fun, prize-winning games.

Shoreline employees were on hand to answer queries and outline services offered and how they could be accessed.

Shoreline neighbourhood investment officer Philippa Kenyon, who helped organise the stall said: “Communities are made up of people who come from a range of cultural backgrounds and we are very proud of this diversity.

“We want to make sure that we reach out to all areas of the community and that everyone has access to our services.

“We really enjoyed taking part in the event – it was not only a great day out for the whole family but an opportunity to experience the different traditions, foods, entertainment and customs of other cultures and gain more of an understanding about the value of difference in us as individuals.”
