creating communities to be proud of

Shoreline is continuing to send out staff from across all their service areas, to the massive clean up operation following extensive flooding of the borough.
We would like to assure residents that we are doing everything we can in partnership with North East Lincolnshire Council to provide assistance to the authority’s response to the severe flooding.
Over the next few days, Shoreline officers will continue their visits to you, to make sure that you have all the support, help and advice that you need.
Shoreline officers will be wearing high-visibility vests/ tabards and carrying and displaying their identification badges.
Please ask to see the identification badge of anyone visiting your home.
Operatives have been put at the deployment of the council to continue the hands on job of cleaning roads, filling skips and clearing debris. Our surveying resources will be helping the council with damage assessments on the properties and our supported housing service will be assisting council work with vulnerable adults.
Officers have begun visiting all Willows tenants who have been affected by the flooding to assess the damage and provide advice and support in regards to health and safety, cleaning and repair of their homes and insurance.
We have made every single one of our available ready to let properties available to re-house any residents who have been affected by the floods.
Following referrals from North East Lincolnshire Council homeless unit, a team of lettings officers has begun the process of quickly and effectively re-housing residents in these properties. The team are based at the Shoreline Customer Service Centre, 11-13 Osborne Street, Grimsby. If you need any information or advice please contact them on (01472) 572292.
Forecasts predict heavy rain over the weekend and as a result, more disruption may be experienced in the borough.
If there are further incidents of flooding please follow the following advice;
In emergency situations please contact the fire, police and ambulance services on 999.
Stay indoors - If there is no need for you to leave home, stay indoors and do not travel.
Do not wade or play in flood waters – flood water may contain sewage and can be damaging to your health. Flood water can be fast moving and could knock you over. There may be other hazards that you can not see.
Leave sandbags in place
Never try to swim in flood water
Move your pets, valuables and any other items to safety - upstairs or to a higher level in the room.
Look out for your neighbours - especially if they are elderly
Wear rubber gloves and Wellington boots when in contact with flood water. Any cuts or open wounds should be covered with waterproof plasters
Turn off gas and electricity – get help if needed. Unplug any electrical items and move them upstairs if possible.
If there is a power failure stay in your home and wait for the services to be resumed.
Put sandbags in place but make sure that your home is still ventilated. Put the plugs in your baths and sinks. Put a sandbag in the toilet bowl to stop a backflow of water.
Please be patient. Listen to the emergency services and the local authority.
Try to return to your home when the cleaning work has been completed. Some other work may need to be carried out. As your landlord, we will describe this to you.
If you return to your property before work is completed make sure that your home is well ventilated. Keep windows open as much as possible but make sure that you still keep your home secure.
Do not plug in damp electrical items. Any appliances that have come in to contact with water will need to be checked by an electrician. Unfortunately, Shoreline cannot do this for you.
Make sure that any items that have been in contact with flood water are thoroughly cleaned before use.
Wash your hands thoroughly with hot water and soap after they have been in contact with flood water or any other items that could have been contaminated.
Throw away any food or drink that may have become contaminated by flood water.
If you have been in contact with contaminated water or sewerage and you develop diarrhoea, fever or abdominal pain in the following 10 days you should seek medical advice.
