decent homes programme
The Decent Homes Programme, also known as the Investment Programme, is where our Property Investment team carry out surveys and carry out works to meet the Decent Homes Standard and the Shoreline Standard on a neighbourhood by neighbourhood basis.
The Decent Homes Standard is a Government standard which ensures minimum standards on items such as kitchens, bathrooms, heating systems, roofs, and that the home is dry and not suffering from dampness.
The Shoreline Standard are the items that were promised prior to transfer and includes such items as overbath showers, extractor fans to kitchens and bathrooms, external light and additional sockets to the property.
In addition to this we are carrying out external works to the properties, this includes such works as painting to properties that have previously been painted, repairs to fencing and paving where necessary, PVC gutters where these are not currently in place, re-roofing or repairs to roofs and chimneys where necessary.
The programme shows the dates for both the internal works and external works programme. Where neighbourhood works have been completed we are still trying to ensure as many properties are included as possible, so in addition to the dates detailed we have a mop up programme which we add properties to continuously.
These dates are a guide as the scale of the programme depends on the survey information, therefore it is possible to be a couple of months either way of the dates detailed.
Ahead of the programme we carry out surveys of your home against the Government’s Decent Home criteria to determine what works are required to bring your home up to this standard. After the survey we will send you a letter informing you of what works will be carried out. If you disagree with the results from this survey you can appeal against the decision using our online form.
