ENID CRAGG
Currently a Liberal Democrat Councillor for Immingham, a former Town Councillor and Mayor of Immingham, Enid moved to the area in 1967 and was employed before retirement as a Senior Purchasing Officer with a local chemical manufacturing company. Mother of two sons and grandmother of three girls, among Enid’s many interests in local government are the TARA’s in Immingham and The Immingham Partnership. She is also a governor at Immingham School. Enid is a member of the Human Resources and Governance, Operations and Finance Committees and is Chair of the SPS Board.
PHYLLIS BUTTERWORTH
Recently appointed to the Shoreline Board, Phyllis is also a newly elected Conservative Councillor for Freshney Ward. She is Grimsby born (East Marsh) and bred and has always lived in the Grimsby area. Phyllis is married to Geoff, with two stepsons and is excitedly awaiting the arrival early next year of her first grandchild. Her main areas of interest are regeneration and urban renewal and improving safety within the community. She is chair of Great Coates Parish Council, deputy chair of the Town & Parish Liaison Committee and represents all parishes on the Executive Committee.
MURIEL BARKER
Muriel is the Labour member on the North East Lincolnshire Council, representing the East Marsh as a Community Councillor. Her interests throughout a long membership of the present and former Councils (over forty years) have always concerned families, children, adult education and jobs. Muriel is a governor of both Strands and Weelsby Primary schools and taught at various primary and junior schools in Grimsby and Cleethorpes until retirement from the Grange Junior School some years ago.
Past enterprises have concerned the Adventure Playground in Armstrong Street (now the site of the new Shoreline Offices), studies in adult literacy and middle school management, which resulted in a Master’s Degree from Hull University, membership of Yorkshire Forward and latterly membership of the EU Committee of the Regions and the Council of Europe Congress.
STEVE BEASANT
Steve is currently a Liberal Democrat Councillor for the East Marsh Ward, a former councillor for the Grant Thorold Ward on Grimsby Borough Councillor. He is the chair of the Local Authorities Children’s Service Scrutiny Committee and takes an active role in the local community. He takes a keen interest in all matters relating to young people and is a Governor of Littlecoates Primary School, Queen Mary Infant School and a member of the Phoenix House Management Committee. Steve is married to his wife Carol and they have three grown up sons and he is a proud grandfather to two grandsons.
